JFTCA provides structured programming to promote physical activity, education and employment opportunities for children, youth and young adults in the three Neighbourhood Improvement Areas of Jane and Finch in the City of Toronto. Participants from across the City of Toronto are able to register for our programs, but priority is given to those who live in our Neighbourhood Improvement Areas. Programs are free of charge or $10 per participant for any program. The applicant provides these programs to children and youth in the community in order to promote positive developmental outcomes.
JFCTA programs are grounded in theories of Positive Youth Development as well as Sport for Development. Participants receive educational support as well as training in the skills required to play tennis. By participating in these programs, they also learn life skills such as discipline, hard work, setting and achieving goals, leadership and emotional regulation, while also increasing their level of physical activity. The programs are geared around three key pillars of the organization; physical activity for communities and inclusion, tennis for education and employment, and physical activity for health and wellness. These programs fall on the developmental pathway that was designed to support our communities children and youth.
